I’m spilling the beans about my dining lounge makeover and how you too can get this look for less!

I am still kicking myself for not doing the dining lounge makeover sooner. It’s been less than a week since I finished it, and we’ve already had a two special dinners in here! It seriously feels magical and so special.

I refer to this room as the “dining lounge” because I designed it to feel like you’re in a high-end London restaurant that doubles as a book store and is filled with both vintage and glam elements. To style this room, I basically shopped my home for most of decor along with using the existing dining room furniture, and of course a couple DIY projects too.

I have broken down all of the expenses for this room as if I were starting from scratch, but the only items I bought for this specific room makeover were the picture lights, paint, and the glass for the horse portraits. This one week renovation project cost me $115! I think it was money well spent, don’t you?!

If there’s something in this room that you don’t see listed below, just message me and I will see what I can do to find it for you.

Paint: $45
I used this Home Depot paint in the satin sheen. I LOVE this paint and only use this brand for my painting projects. I painted the ceiling, door, baseboards, trim, and walls with this paint and used less than one gallon. Score!

Sideboard hutch: $0
A few years ago, I found this listed for free on craigslist and I revamped it then painted it using this gold color and this black color in a high gloss. I had both on hand from previous projects. Here is a sideboard that is similar, and I love it!

Picture frames: $15/ea
I found these picture frames from craigslist for $15/ea and painted them using this gold paint. I bought the glass for the frames from Lowes – they custom cut glass for you right in the store and it’s the cheapest and fastest way to get glass for your picture frames.

Horse portraits: $0
These were painted my my husband’s first wife, Jeseca. She died from cancer when the boys were 5 & 8 years old, and in an attempt to help keep her memory alive, I add a little bit of her into every space I design at our home.

Dining table: $250
This was another craigslist find a few years ago. The day after I bought it, I saw it for sale for $1,400. Here is a similar one for a great price!

Chiavari chairs: $35/ea
These chiavari chairs are similar to the ones we bought years ago.

Rug: $200
We bought our rug a few years ago from Home Goods. Side note, I love buying rugs from here because they are very high quality and usually way cheaper. Here’s a similar rug.

Mirror: $60
This was a semi-DIY/craigslist find. We bought the frame from a framer who was going out of business. Frames like these typically sell for $400+/ea, we bought two because the price was so good. We didn’t even know where we would put them at the time. We then picked up a large bathroom vanity wall mirror (4′ x 8′) that was a free find on Craigslist, and we cut it to size. Here is a similar mirror.

Artwork: $0
When my hubby and I were dating, I made this canvas for our youngest son, Christian; he was 8 years old when he painted this with his hands and brushes. It’s amazing!

China: $0
The plates and glasses were taken from two sets of china that were handed down to me from my family.

Gold flatware: $60
We bought this gorgeous silverware set from a local auction. This flatware set is similar.

Floor lamp: $100
We bought this is from target a few years ago. Sometimes I see it in stores, but it’s not available online. I like this lamp too.

Pink chairs: $140
We bought these from an auction years ago. These chairs are similar.

Faux plant: $0
My mom gave me this faux plant last year and I wasn’t crazy about where I had it and thought it would look great in here. This plant is similar.

Candles: $40
These remote controlled real wax candles are from Costco. These candles are similar.

Table decor vases: $21
Years ago I bought the plant vases on clearance at West Elm. These vases are similar.

Picture lights: $26/ea
These remote controlled dimmable picture lights are from Amazon.

Table runner: $16
I bought this in a two pack from Walmart a few years ago. This one is similar.

Curtains: $60
The green velvet curtains are from Ikea.

I hope this inspires you to take the plunge and giving your dining room a moody makeover!

Until next time, spread beauty everywhere you go.
Sincerely,
Linds
